Victims of violent crimes honored at memorial

April 18, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
A mass memorial took place at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier Sunday for the victims of violent crimes.

This is sponsored by the group, Justice for Homicide Victims.

Relatives and friends gathered to light candles, release doves and symbolically send messages to their loved ones.

Among those attending was Henry Nicholas who co-sponsored Marsy's Law, the California Crime Victim's Bill of Rights, which was named for his sister.

"This is just one state. We've got 49 other states, and we'd like to see Marsy's Law become not just part of the California constitution but we'd like to see it be the 28th amendment to the United States constitution," said Nicholas.
