The story centers on sulky Becca Crane (Jenn Proske), who returns to Sporks, Washington, to live with her sheriff father. At school, she meets slow-mo prone Edward Sullen (Matt Lanter), who is part of the mysterious Sullen family of vampires. She also meets Jacob White (Chris Riggi), an often shirtless but abdominally-ripped Native American werewolf sporting a furry tail from his tight jeans and showing other canine tendencies.
Becca's bloodsucker lust soon attracts a dangerous clan of nomadic vampires who don't share the Sullen's ethical reservations about drinking human blood.
I'm sure this all sounds familiar by now.
This is a spoof on all things vampire, but mostly "Twilight." This comes from
the same minds that brought us "Date Movie," "Epic Movie," "Disaster Movie" and
"Meet the Spartans." I only liked one of those four movies (Meet the Spartans),
but I really thought this one would be one of the better ones. It wasn't.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a lot of people will like this movie
for what it is, especially if they've bought into the whole Vampire craze. With
choices like "Twilight," "True Blood," "Vampire Diaries" and even "The Gates" on
ABC, there seems to be vampires everywhere. Spoofing them all seems natural,
given all the ammunition these movies provide.
My two (it was difficult finding more than two) memorable moments in this film include Jacob's shirtless conversation with Becca. When asked why he is shirtless, he replies, "It's in my contract. I have to be shirtless for every 10 minutes of camera time." The other memorable moment came when Edward crept into Becca's room as she slept. As he moved closer to her bed, it appears that a tender moment is looming - until Becca suffers a bout of flatulence and Edward is blown out of the second-story bedroom window.
Yes, it was predictable, but still funny. There just weren't enough of these laughs to make me want to watch.
I get much more enjoyment from Wayans Brothers spoofs than something like
this one.
