Note on mirror sets off bomb scare at LAX

LOS ANGELES /*Thai Airways*/ flight 794 landed at about 9 p.m. in Los Angeles from Bangkok and was immediately greeted by authorities. /*LAX*/ police and federal authorities surrounded the aircraft and did a thorough search, going through every piece of luggage with the help of bomb-sniffing dogs. All passengers were interviewed.

While the plane's crew members were very concerned, most of the passengers did not know what was going on.

"We were detained for two hours. Our handbags were checked again, but then we were cleared," said passenger Selan Beldev.

Airline passenger Thitikarn Tang said she was able to find out that someone had written a threatening message on the bathroom mirror, claiming there was a bomb on the flight.

"I was kind of scared. I didn't really know what was happening, but because I can speak Thai, I heard some air hostesses talking about what's happening," Tang said.

Nothing was found after a search of the plane. There were 171 passengers on the plane and 18 crew members.

According to Thai officials, the note on the mirror was written in English, but they said it was very poor grammar.

At this time, officials believe the incident was just a prank.
