Injured skateboarder claims workers' comp

VICTORVILLE, Calif. Police say 26-year-old Rudy Matthew Ursua injured himself skateboarding, but then pretended to have been hurt on the job.

Ursua allegedly claimed more than $15,000 in workers' compensation.

Ursua is charged with nine felony counts, including making fraudulent statements and lying about his injuries in violation of insurance code and grand theft.

Ursua filed for the benefits in 2008 while working at RCR Plumbing & Mechanical Inc. Ursua allegedly claimed he was injured when he stepped on plumbing fittings on the warehouse floor. But the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office later determined Ursua fell and fractured his left elbow while skateboarding at his girlfriend's house.
