Man arrested in AZ in CA jackpot killing

PHOENIX, Ariz. The suspect is identified as 26-year-old Michael William Ross of Long Beach. He was arrested Saturday in Arizona.

Last month, 55-year-old Chi Ngoc Bui won the jackpot at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino. Investigators say Ross watched Bui win and then tipped off the other two suspects, 41-year-old Tad Carroll and 47-year-old Barbara Hamel, who were waiting in a nearby car. They followed Bui as he left the casino and eventually caught up with him in Santa Ana.

Investigators say Bui tried to run away with the money in his hand but he was beaten and then run over. He died at the scene.

All three suspects are charged with felony counts of special circumstances murder during the commission of a robbery, second-degree robbery and attempted second-degree robbery, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Ross is set to be extradited to California.
