Famed real estate broker missing in desert

Crews are searching Joshua Tree National Park for a well-known Los Angeles real estate broker, who has been missing since Friday after he did not return from a hike.Park officials said 55 searchers on foot, horseback and in helicopters were fanned out across the park on Tuesday.

Search efforts were focused in an area where 64-year-old Edward Rosenthal is thought to have been hiking.

Rosenthal, from Culver City, is known for brokering deals to sell historic downtown office and industrial buildings for conversion into condo or apartment buildings.

Authorities said Rosenthal was first reported missing on Sunday afternoon.
