Teen texting linked to sex, use of drugs

November 9, 2010 12:00:00 AM PST
A new study finds that teens who text 120 times or more a day are more likely to have had sex or used alcohol and drugs than teens who do not send as many messages.Researchers say the "hyper-texting" does not lead to risky behavior. Instead, they say this shows that a significant number of teens are susceptible to peer pressure and also may have permissive or absent parents.

The information comes from more than 4,200 students at 20 public high schools in the Cleveland area who took the confidential paper survey last year.
