Holbrooke in critical condition post-surgery

Richard Holbrooke, President Barack Obama's special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, is in critical condition at a hospital Saturday.He was undergoing surgery to repair a tear in his aorta. The surgery is finished, but Holbrooke is still in critical condition.

A state department spokesman said the 69-year-old's family is with him at the hospital.

Holbrooke was named to his post by Obama early in his administration. The veteran diplomat is perhaps best known for helping broker the 1995 agreement that ended the war in Bosnia.
