Off-duty LAPD cop killed in motorcycle crash

SANTA ANA, Calif. Authorities said Officer Kent Carter was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle along Santiago Canyon Road at about 4:30 p.m. when he veered into oncoming traffic and hit another motorcyclist who was traveling southbound on Santiago Canyon Road.

Carter was then hit a second time by a man and his passenger riding another motorcycle. Carter and the first motorcyclist were declared dead at the scene.

The biker and his passenger in the second collision were injured.

Carter worked for the LAPD over 29 years.
