Airlines raise fares on many domestic routes

LOS ANGELES United, Continental and Delta airlines confirmed Tuesday that they have raised prices.

Domestic routes are up $10 for one-way and $20 per round-trip flights. Airlines did not offer a reason for the fare hikes.

The industry posted strong profits in the third quarter but still faces rising jet fuel prices.

The fare hikes and surcharges came as airlines were still digging out from a storm that shut down airports in New York, Boston and Philadelphia, leading to at least 7,000 canceled flights.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
