Woman stuck in snowstorm gives birth in car

January 4, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
A baby in New Brunswick, Canada, made a dramatic entrance into the world when it was born in a car during a raging snowstorm. The baby's grandmother was driving her daughter to the hospital, but the baby girl would not wait until they got there.

"I'm trying to drive and hang on to her hand, telling her to breathe, come on baby girl, just breathe," said the baby's grandmother, Crystal Hicks. "When she said the head was there, I said please tell me you're joking. Don't let this be real."

But it was real.

The grandmother pulled over and called 911, but by the time firefighters arrived, the baby had already been born.

They took the newborn and her mom to the hospital, and everyone is doing well.
