Panda pair to stay in DC zoo for 5 more years

January 22, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
Thanks to a new deal, the pandas housed at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. won't be returning to China anytime soon. China's president has agreed to let the U.S. borrow the animals for another five years.

The two pandas have been at the zoo since 2000 and have had one cub. That cub is doing well back in China.

The zoo hopes the pair will have another baby soon.
