Man sets new record for waterskiing barefoot

A Mexican water skier set a new world record for waterskiing barefoot at high speed on Tuesday.

Fernando Reina Iglesias reached a speed of 153 mph as he was towed by a helicopter in Acapulco.

That's 18 mph faster than the old record set by American skier Scott Pellaton in 1989.

Iglesias, who is also a lawmaker, said he wanted to do something positive for the image of this tourist destination, which has been wracked by drug violence.
