Miss San Antonio loses crown over bikini body

SAN ANTONIO, Texas

Seventeen-year-old Domonique Ramirez is suing to regain her crown.

The head of the pageant testified that although Ramirez is not fat, recent photos of her in a bikini were unusable, despite efforts to airbrush them. Ramirez is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 129 pounds.

"Domonique is not fat by any stretch of the imagination. She's a beautiful girl," said Linda Woods, president of the Miss Bexar County organization that runs the Miss San Antonio pageant.

But Woods said Ramirez had been named 2011 Miss San Antonio, in part, on the strength of her showing in the bikini competition. In later photos shot in preparation for the Miss Texas pageant, Woods said she was not in the same condition.

The pageant said Ramirez was also ousted because of missed appearances and irresponsible behavior that included not writing thank-you notes and refusing help from vocal coaches.

Ashley Dixon, who was runner-up to Ramirez, has since been named Miss San Antonio. She was asked to leave the courtroom immediately after entering Thursday because she is a potential witness.

Ramirez was expected to testify in the trial.
