Long Beach school shaves heads for cancer research

LONG BEACH, Calif.

People young and old, shaved their heads in the 10th annual fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The proceeds go to research into pediatric cancer.

Kayleigh Scott is one of the students and a cancer patient. She said she has been bald several times from her treatments.

"I think it's pretty cool that everybody is getting together and shaving their heads and raising money in support of cancer," said Scott.

"I think it's really awesome that this many youth in our community come out in support of the other kids that don't have a choice," said event organizer Michelle Scott.

The survival rate for childhood cancer has increased over the last ten years. There are hopes that research will bring even more progress.
