Speaking at a gathering of conservatives in Iowa, Gingrich blasted the president for not consulting with Congress before approving the air strikes.
He also accused the president of going back and forth on Libya, which Gingrich says has gotten him in trouble.
"Obviously there were contradictions because one day he's over here and I comment on being over here. Another day he's over here and you're commenting on being over here and they say, Well, Gingrich is commenting both ways," said Gingrich. "That's true, I was trying to follow Obama.">
Saturday's gathering featured several potential Republican presidential candidates, including Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour.
