Driver flees after hitting man in Van Nuys

The search is on for the driver of a car that hit a man walking across the street in Van Nuys.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Victory Boulevard and Fulton Street.

Officials said the victim was crossing outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a car traveling westbound on Victory Boulevard.

The victim, described as a man between the ages 35 and 45 years old, was found 15 feet west of the intersection.

Authorities said a driver of a dark-colored sedan struck the man and did not stop.

The victim was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center with severe injuries and was listed in critical condition.
