2 Century High students shot after Santa Ana clash

SANTA ANA, Calif.

Authorities responded to the parking lot of Stater Bros. near the corner of McFadden and Standard avenues at about 1 p.m. to break up the fight. The teenagers dispersed, but shortly after, shots from at least two people in a white car rang out in an alley across the street.

"I heard four shots coming from a car ... they stepped on the gas," said Israel Carlos of Santa Ana.

When police arrived, they found a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old hiding in a laundry room. The 16-year-old was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and hand, and the 18-year-old was treated for a wound to the buttocks. Their injuries were not life threatening.

According to police, the shooting victims were from Century High School. The school had let out early for the start of spring break. It is unknown what sparked the fight.

No one has been arrested. The suspects' car is described as a white car, possibly a Lincoln.

As police search for the suspects, residents are grateful no one else was hurt. At least one stray bullet shattered the window of an apartment.
