Unauthorized websites are reportedly charging between $20 to $30 for filing change-of-address forms.
The USPS released a statement Friday noting the service is free of charge, and that no companies are authorized to perform the service.
Some consumers reportedly paid the fee but did not receive a change of address.
Postal customers can file a change of address through the USPS website, usps.com.
