After months of delay and manufacturing problems, the white iPhone 4 finally went on sale Thursday in the United States, United Kingdom and 26 other countries.

It was supposed to be available last year, when the black iPhone 4 was released. Customers can place orders on-line for $199 or $299 depending on the model, but Apple warns they'll need to wait a couple of days to get a white iPhone, while a black one will ship right away.

Apple is charging the same price for a white or black iPhone 4, but traders on EBay and other sites are capitalizing on the scarcity of the white phones, and driving prices up.

Apple Inc. said Wednesday the prices are for phones purchased with a two-year contract from AT&T Inc. or Verizon Wireless in the U.S.
