Arnold Schwarzenegger's mistress speaks out about affair

LOS ANGELES

Mildred Baena has been in hiding since Schwarzenegger revealed he fathered Baena's child 13 years ago. The former housekeeper says she wants to end speculation as questions swirl about their child.

"She gave the interview in order to set the record straight once and for all," said Baena's attorney Michael Saltz, who confirmed she gave an interview to Hello! magazine. "Mildred was tired of people selling their lies to the media or claiming to speak for her when they do not."

In the interview, Baena said the boy appeared to be thrilled to learn the truth and said "cool." Baena said the boy is looking forward to building a relationship with Schwarzenegger.

Baena also apparently had questions herself about who had fathered the boy, but she realized the truth once her son started to resemble Schwarzenegger.

"I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as the boy got older and began to look like him, he (Arnold) wondered. But he never said anything to me," Baena told the tabloid.

Baena and Maria Shriver were pregnant at the same time. Christopher Schwarzenegger and Baena's son were born six days apart.

Baena described her confession to Shriver as tearful and emotional.

According to the tabloid, Shriver started to "put two and two together when she heard whispers in the household about the pair's similarity."

"She would say things like, 'I am here if you need to talk.' I sensed something was up. I have so much love and respect for Maria," Baena said in the interview.

Baena said Shriver asked her about the child.

"She was so strong. She cried with me and told me to get off my knees," Baena told the tabloid. "We held each other, and I told her it wasn't Arnie's fault, that it takes two. He is a good man, and I know he's suffering too. He loves Maria. I hope with time they work things out."

Schwarzeneggar reportedly was friendly with the boy and helped support him, even helping Baena purchase a home in Bakersfield.

The Hello! story did not cover everything. According to Saltz, Baena kept private areas she was not willing to discuss

Eyewitness News contacted both Shriver and Schwarzenegger about the published interview, but neither is commenting on the story.
