3 suspects remain at large in illegal gun trafficking ring

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, LOS ANGELES

Nine suspects were arrested over the last week by a team of agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the California Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as well as Los Angeles Police personnel, as part of a yearlong investigation into the trafficking ring.

Three suspects remained outstanding Thursday, including Elijah Brown, 38, of Los Angeles; Mitchell Knox, 22, of Studio City; and Hector Valles, 46, of Northridge.

For the past year, undercover agents have been investigating an illegal firearms trafficking ring in the San Fernando Valley. An ATF agent reportedly infiltrated a group that sold illegal firearms and drugs in the area. Agents reportedly were able to buy stolen firearms, machine guns and silencers.

One of the men arrested last week was previously charged in connection with 60 to 70 sticks of dynamite found in a Van Nuys warehouse in 2005.
