The body was found by a jogger on a desolate stretch of Mile High Ranch Road. Authorities said the corpse was hidden from the road beneath a large oak tree alongside a fence made of stone.
"Riverside County Sheriff's Department had received a call from a jogger stating they had located what they believed to be a body underneath an oak tree," said Jodi Miller of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. "What Riverside County responded found that it indeed was in the jurisdiction of San Bernardino County, so our deputies from Yucaipa station as well as homicide detectives responded to the location."
The location is a known party spot marked by graffiti and strewn with trash.
Investigators spent Friday digging up the body, which they later determined to be a white female.
The cause of her death is under investigation, as is her identity.
Investigators are waiting for the autopsy report to provide more clues and help them solve the case.
