6 injured as tow-truck crashes through restaurant

LOS ANGELES

The driver of a flatbed tow-truck slammed into a Yoshinoya restaurant at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Beverly Boulevard at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, critically injuring one person.

Police says the driver apparently lost control of his brakes, ran a red light at the Normandie/Beverly intersection and hit several cars before crashing into the restaurant.

Six people were hurt in the accident, but only one victim was critically injured.

People in the area and police say the accident did not happen during the busy lunch hour.

"It happened at 10:40," said LAPD Lieutenant David Kowalski. "If it had happened another 30 to 60 minutes later we would have had a lot more patrons inside or outside of the business at the time."
