Thieves steal hygiene goods from drug store

VENTURA, Calif.

A Hispanic male reportedly entered a CVS drug store at 1740 S. Victoria Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was joined by two other Hispanic males in the hygiene aisle.

One suspect allegedly acted as lookout while the other two stole merchandise from shelves totaling more than $1,500.

A female store employee attempted to block the door as the suspects tried to flee. One of the suspects knocked the employee down as they escaped. She was not injured.

An off-duty sheriff's deputy witnessed the incident and chased the suspects out of the store. He knocked one suspect down. The suspect dropped some of the stolen merchandise, but was able to flee the scene.
