The vehicle slammed into the freeway median, overturned and then caught fire near Ventura Boulevard.
A Good Samaritan reportedly pulled someone from the burning vehicle when it was ablaze.
Officials initially closed down all northbound lanes, but the carpool lane was opened to let cars through. All lanes have since reopened.
The accident was affecting traffic more so on the southbound lanes rather than northbound due to onlookers.
