Glass of beer, wine could prevent Alzheimer's

LOS ANGELES

Scientists at Loyola University Medical School find that a glass wine or beer can reduce the risk of developing /*Alzheimer's disease*/.

The findings suggest small amounts of alcohol somehow condition brain cells to adapt to the stresses that lead to dementia.

Experts caution that this only holds true for moderate drinking, one or two glasses of wine or beer a day.

Heavier drinking was actually linked to a higher risk of dementia.
