The suspect was identified as 51-year-old John Maxedon.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department says he stole a 32-foot power boat in Long Beach and ran it onto the shore near 14th Street in Seal Beach late Wednesday night.
Investigators believe Maxedon was drunk at the time. He is under arrest.
There are no reports of injuries and no word on why Maxedon is on parole.
