At Eastern Avenue, the parade took a left turn and was expected to end at First Street.

City officials including L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Councilmembers Ed Reyes and Jose Huizar, and LAUSD Board President Monica Garcia were in attendence.

Dancers in native costumes and elaborate floats filled the parade route. Renowned Mexican telenovela producer Carla Estrada was the grand marshal for the big event.

The parade festival took place just around the corner from the parade's starting point. It ran along Mednik Avenue from Cesar Chavez Avenue to First Street.

The festival included a variety of food, activities and festive entertainment.
