OC wife who killed, ate husband denied parole

CHOWCHILLA, Calif.

Omaima Nelson was convicted of killing her 56-year-old husband in the couple's Costa Mesa apartment over Thanksgiving weekend. Authorities allege that she planned to steal from him as she had done with other middle-aged men.

Nelson, a former Egyptian fashion model, said she had been the victim of child abuse. Her attorney at the time said she was the victim, and that her husband had raped and beat her several times.

She is serving a life sentence at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla.

The Orange County District Attorney's Office said Nelson is a threat to public safety and opposes her parole.

A psychiatrist testified during Nelson's trial that she told him she ate her husband's ribs but later denied it.

Nelson was denied parole in 2006 because commissioners found her unpredictable and a serious threat to public safety.
