63 lawsuits filed against British tabloid newspaper News of the World

LONDON The lawsuits accuse the tabloid of illegally hacking their phones.

The newspaper was shut down in July by News Corp. owner Rupert Murdoch when it was revealed the paper had been hacking the voicemail of politicians, celebrities and crime victims.

A test case against the publisher will commence in January that includes actor Jude Law.

Other claimants include parents of children who were victims of violent crimes.
