The incident happened at about 1:19 a.m. Sunday on Passons Boulevard, just north of Telegraph Road.
Deputies later spotted the vehicle and arrested the suspect at Slauson Avenue and Boer Street in Whittier. The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Alfredo Campos Jr. of Rancho Cucamonga.
According to investigators, Campos and the victim were involved in some sort of altercation at a nearby location. Witnesses said immediately following the fight, Campos got in his vehicle and purposely ran over the victim.
