New Irvine law for party hosts who give alcohol to minors

November 11, 2011 12:00:00 AM PST
The City of Irvine has a new incentive in place that might encourage parents to lock up the liquor cabinet.

The city council approved an ordinance that cracks down on people who allow underage drinking.

Party hosts can be fined $750 for a first warning, up to $1,500 for a second warning and up to $3,000 for a third warning.

There are exemptions, such as alcohol consumed for religious purposes.
