4.6-mag. quake shakes central Washington

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.6 struck Washington state Friday morning.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network said the quake occurred at 5:09 a.m. local time. It was centered about 140 miles northeast of Seattle, near Omak, which is in the central part of the state.

People in the area said the quake was strong enough to wake them.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
