Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry, art up for sale in NYC

NEW YORK

Among some of the items up for sale are pieces from her jewelry collection, including earrings worn to the 1960 Academy Awards when she won for best actress.

Other pieces include her wedding bands from Richard Burton and gifts from her close friend, Michael Jackson. The items are estimated to be valued around $30 million.

An online-only sale of some items runs until Saturday.

Part of the proceeds will go to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which she established in 1991.

Taylor, a screen goddess who starred in classics such as "Cleopatra," "Giant," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," died in Los Angeles in March at age 79.
