As of 6 a.m. Christmas morning, 138 people had been arrested in L.A. County, which is 55 more than last year.
Across the state, 710 people were arrested - 203 more than last year.
The California Highway Patrol says five people were killed in freeway accidents across the state, but none of those accidents happened in L.A. County.
The CHP had launched a crackdown on drunk drivers, with a "maximum enforcement period" from 6 p.m. Friday to 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
The arrest figures cover only freeways and unincorporated areas patrolled by the CHP. Los Angeles Police and the L.A. Sheriff's Department have not yet released any figures on DUI arrests.
