Anaheim workers ordered to delete city email

January 6, 2012 12:00:00 AM PST
Workers in the Anaheim city planning department have been ordered to delete any emails that reflect badly on city leadership.

In fact, the employees were told they could face disciplinary action if such emails aren't purged.

The order was reportedly issued just after the request to see planning department communications by an online publication.

Open-government advocates are raising questions about the intent of the order to delete those emails.

But the Anaheim City Attorney's Office says it does not violate state law.
