Irvine police say they received a call from Shalabh Rastogi, 39, about 9:40 p.m. Monday. He told them he killed his wife during an argument.
The woman's body was found at an apartment complex on Monte Vista near Culver Drive. There was no indication that a weapon was used. The Orange County Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of death.
Rastogi has been booked into the Orange County Jail and is being held on $1 million bail.
The couple had been married for about 13 years and lived in Irvine for the last 8 months. They had three school-aged children. The children were not home at the time of the incident and have been taken into protective custody.
