The shooting happened near Waterman Avenue and Baseline Street. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Donald Ray McCall Jr.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at around 2 a.m. That's when they found the young man's body behind an apartment complex. He had been shot several times.
There is no suspect information, and a possible motive for the shooting is unknown.
Police say there were at least 12 murders in the city of San Bernardino in the month of May alone.
