Rutgers webcam case: Dharun Ravi won't be deported

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.

Dharun Ravi, 20, was released from a New Jersey jail Tuesday morning after completing 20 days of a 30-day sentence.

Ravi was found guilty of using a webcam to see roommate Tyler Clementi kiss another man in 2010. Clementi committed suicide days later.

Ravi was born in India and remains a citizen there. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced they wouldn't deport him because he has no prior criminal record.

Ravi still faces three years of probation, plus more than $11,000 in fines and assessments, 300 hours of community service, and counseling.

Prosecutors are appealing Ravi's sentence, arguing that he should have to serve more time for his actions. Ravi is appealing the conviction, saying he is not guilty.
