Robert Pattinson dodges breakup questions on 'Good Morning America'

The 26-year-old actor, who was in New York City promoting his new film, attended the Tuesday night premiere solo. He dodged questions about his love life on the morning show.

Anchor George Stephanopoulos broke the ice with Pattinson by offering him some Cinnamon Toast Crunch. On Monday, "The Daily Show" host John Stewart greeted Pattinson with a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, saying they were "just two gals" talking about a breakup.

Cereal aside, Stephanopoulos cut to the chase addressing the elephant in the room, asking Pattinson what he wants his fans to know about how he's doing in his personal life. Pattinson squirmed in his seat, looked around the studio and completely sidestepped the question.

"I'd like my fans to know Cinnamon Toast Crunch only has 30 calories a bowl in it for instance. Pretty much everything that comes out of my mouth is irrelevant," said Pattinson. "You get into it to do movies. I've never been interested in trying to sell my personal life, and that's really the only reason people bring it up."

"Twilight" fans are still heartbroken over the Pattinson/Stewart scandal. Stewart, 22, admitted via a press statement on July 25 that she had a "momentary indiscretion" around the same time that paparazzi photos of her and Rupert Sanders, who directed her in the movie "Snow White and the Huntsman," kissing and embracing were published in Us Weekly magazine and posted online.

Without even a nod to his personal life, Pattinson steered the interview with Stephanopoulos to his latest film, "Cosmopolis," which is set to open Friday in limited release. In the rated-R film, Pattinson plays Eric Packer, a 28-year-old billionaire who attempts to cross Manhattan in his stretch limousine, encountering gridlock traffic and violent protests, all in search of a haircut.
