An arson investigation is under way after an early morning fire at a vacant, former church in Compton.

The blaze started around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the former Life Anew Community Church on the 800 block of Compton Boulevard near East Chester Avenue.

Police say people often throw parties at the location. Authorities suspect arson, because items left at the scene caught fire.

No one was injured.
