Jimmy Kimmel auctioning off desk for Sandy victims

NEW YORK

Kimmel returned to his birthplace, Brooklyn, for a week of broadcasts from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

The custom-made Brooklyn-themed desk is signed by Kimmel, fellow late-night host David Letterman, and Comedy Central stars Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. All three made appearances on Kimmel's show last week.

You can bid on the desk on the Charitybuzz website. The auction closes Nov. 14. All the proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross.

More help is on the way for Sandy victims. The Walt Disney Company and ABC Television Group has designated Monday as a "Day of Giving," so from "Good Morning America" until "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," there will be a call to action on all ABC television shows.

Sandy is blamed for more than 100 deaths in 10 states. Damage is estimated at $50 billion, making the storm the second most expensive in U.S. history after Hurricane Katrina.
