He talked about the security situation there since fighting re-ignited earlier this year. The actor asked lawmakers to do what they can to help stabilize the region.
"Every day, I am inspired by the resilience and the determination of the Congolese who desperately want to live their lives in peace, earn a decent living and raise their families just like the rest of us," he said.
Affleck is the founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative, a humanitarian group that provides funding for organizations and leaders in the region.
