$1M worth of marijuana turns up at Vandenberg AFB beach

LOMPOC, Calif.

Officials say an overturned aluminum boat and bales of marijuana were discovered on the beach Thursday. That forced officials to raise its security threat level. The grounds were searched and no one was found.

"We are looking for any potential suspects. There were no weapons found. There were no personnel found so far, and we have determined that there is no threat to the base or the local community," said Col. Nina Armagno.

Officials say the marijuana was found under brush near the boat, which had its engine removed or it had fallen off.
