Shortly before 3 p.m., Southern California Edison said power had been restored to all residents.

According to Southern California Edison, downed wires near 190th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard in Torrance cut power to many cities in the area after 7 a.m. A Southern California Edison coverage map indicated the number of impacted customers.

Edison's emergency crews are on site. A timeframe for restoration is unknown, police say. Officials with Southern California Edison said as of about 10 a.m., cities affected by the outage include Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Gardena, Lomita and Rancho Palos Verdes.

The cause of the downed power lines is under investigation, Southern California Edison said.

Police in Torrance and Gardena say the outage is affecting traffic signals. The area of 190th Street between Van Ness and Crenshaw Boulevard remains shut down in both directions due to replacement of power lines. Police are advising people to expect delays, and drive safely.
