Officers said the woman crashed into two power poles on Aviation Boulevard and El Segundo Boulevard just after 6 p.m. The car burst into flames.
The woman was taken to the hospital with serious to critical injuries.
The officer who rescued her suffered minor injuries.
Southern California Edison said a small power shortage in the area would continue for about 24 hours while repairs were made.
