Eleanor Roosevelt High School sexual assault case: 2 teens arrested

EASTVALE, Calif.

The alleged rape took place last Wednesday after school hours in a campus bathroom at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Eyewitness News has learned that the alleged victim is a freshman.

Students say one of the suspects is a junior and is on the football team. He was taken into custody inside the school's gymnasium.

"I saw the cops. They came out here and I saw them go in the gym. And he already kind of knew, so he put his hands behind his back and they cuffed him and put him in the car," said student Chris Seley.

Student Dimeji Latiwo says he doesn't think the allegations are true.

"I know that he isn't the type of person to do that," said Latiwo. "And like really? Rape at the school, like come on, that's not really going to happen because of all the people looking around and stuff."

The second suspect, who is a sophomore, had recently been expelled for an unrelated issue and now attends Orange Grove High School in Corona. He was arrested at his Norco home.

Friends of the suspects say the teens told them the sex was consensual.

The school district won't comment on the case other than to say an alleged incident is being investigated.

The teens' names are not being released because they are minors. They were booked at the Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center on multiple felony sexual assault-related charges.

Anyone with additional information regarding this incident was encouraged to contact Investigator Pabelico at the Jurupa Valley Station (951) 955-2600.
