Time Warner Cable issued an apology Sunday night after some Southern California Super Bowl fans missed part of the big game.

The signal went out for some customers just before halftime. The company says a technical issue affected the Fox standard definition channel, causing a blackout for about an hour, but that the game was still viewable on the high-definition channel.

"Our engineers resolved the issue as quickly as possible, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused our customers," Time Warner Cable said in a statement.

It remains unclear what caused the blackout.
