A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing about 120 gallons of gasoline at a station in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County sheriff's officials said.

Zahir Shabazz, 40, of Garden Grove, allegedly stole the gasoline from a 76 station at 6 a.m. Tuesday. Shabazz pumped the gasoline into large containers in the back of his pick-up truck, an employee told authorities.

The pump had been altered to pump gasoline without racking up a bill, officials said.

The employee confronted Shabazz, pulled him out of his vehicle and restrained him until deputies arrived. Unoccupied, Shabazz's vehicle rolled forward and hit an electrical box.

Shabazz is suspected of stealing gas from several stations in the Los Angeles area, officials said.
